David Huxtable - Chief Instructor, 4th Dan Back Belt.

 

Mr Huxtable has been studying Karate and Kickboxing for many years, initially a traditional style Wado Ryu, then with Dave Wing in Fleur De Lys, and more recently in the Swansea area. Mr Huxtable was 2007 ECKA National Champion for points fighting in the executive category (over 35) and defended his title successfully in July 2008.

 

In March 2013 Mr Huxtable won the South Wales Evening Post Pride Awards Grassroots Sports Coach of the Year and was presented with his award at the Brangwyn Hall Swansea. He would like to thank his students for nominating him for this prestigious award.

 

Mr Huxtable enjoys the Sports Karate but his passion is coaching and teaching self - defence. He was honoured to have been chosen to fight for Wales in the 2007 WKA World Championships in Karlsruhe Germany, 2008 in Florida, 2009 in Huelva Spain where he took a bronze medal in the traditional Karate Kumite and in 2010 in Edinburgh took a Silver medal in the Final. In 2013, he led a 15 strong contingent from G&K as part of the Welsh Team travelling to Tuscany for the WKA/WTKA/ICO Unified Championships.  Mr Huxtable returned with a Bronze medal. 10 of his students took part in 2014 and 6 attended the Championships in 2015.  In 2016, 25 of Mr Huxtable's fighters represented  Wales at the World Championshps 

 

Mr Huxtable was awarded his 4th Dan Black Belt in April 2016.

 

He is also a Class A International Referee with The World Kickboxing Association (WKA).

 

Within 10 years of opening the Club he has coached over 60 students to international level, produced 27 World Champions, 18 European Champion and 8 British Champions with numerous Welsh titles.   Mr Huxtable is qualified in first aid, has a clean enhanced CRB check and has undertaken child protection training. He was honoured to be nominated and shortlisted for Sports Coach of the Year for Swansea in 2009, and was awarded a Local Hero Award for Contribution to Sport by the Wave / Swansea Sound in 2015.

In 2019 Mr Huxtable won the WKA World Championships in Poland & then two weeks later fought in the ICO World Championships in Scotland and again came back with another Gold!
