Happy Anniversary to the Club!
Gorseinon and Killay Martial Arts Academy started in 2007 and we celebrate the 13th Anniversary of our opening this week. Our students train with us from all over Swansea, Gower, Llanelli, Neath, Carmarthen and Ammanford. G&K is run by a family for families with mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins keeping fit, learning moves, self-confidence techniques and having fun together. Such is the ethos of our Club with the support of our students, families, Instructors and Leadership Team, we pride ourselves on being a club right in the heart of the local community.
We have continued training on an online portal in lockdown with well over 5000 attendances by our students, training not only with techniques to progress to their next belts, but attending fitness classes, Ladies Only classes, private one to ones and taking part in sparring sessions too. We have also welcomed new students who have started training with us during lockdown and look forward to you attending the dojo in the not too distant future, so we can meet you and your family in person, use our brilliant facilities and meet our other students and families. We have even had renowned guest Martial Artists from all the World supporting us by taking some of our online sparring classes during lockdown to complement our drills.
Students who participate in the competitive side of the sport have been selected for Team Wales and competed at Local, Regional, National, European and International level winning numerous prestigious titles and even been selected for the Great Britain Kickboxing Team. Our students have competed all over the World, including Turkey, the United States of America, Germany and Italy.
We have been working hard on introducing some exciting new challenges, sessions, courses, events and a wonderful new partnership coming up and we look forward to sharing all of this with you over the next few months. This weekend we have a new first for us, our online Zoom grading due to the current coronavirus situation.
